Examining her own origins and experience in this her second work, Valeria Apicella focuses her attention on the point where the human being and the feminine dissolve in contemporary but archaic matter. The bells on stage become an instrument to create continuity between the external universe and our inner turmoil, where the sound punctuates changing life and time. Between a bedroom and a hall, between the outer being and the inner being, between the body and the voice, My flowers looks for a space where the body can go back to being something primitive and impersonal, almost divine. Valeria Apicella, an elegant and absolutely weightless dancer, combines her experience with that of Jewish singer and writer Ruth Rosenthal, in this work that is a blend of dancing, singing and acting, recreating the outlines of rituals that border on the sacred.
