Ambientato in un indefinito futuro remoto, Paranoia sviluppa un’intricata struttura a scatole cinesi, nella quale una storia sembra contenerne un’altra, e questa un’altra ancora. Un gruppo di uomini è responsabile di un progetto nodale per il futuro dell’umanità: mantenere un buon livello di relazione con le “intelligenze” aliene che minacciano la Terra. I buoni rapporti e di conseguenza la sopravvivenza del pianeta sono garantiti da un semplice patto: gli alieni hanno bisogno dell’uomo perché consumano con avidità inesauribile qualcosa che la Terra produce in gran quantità, la fiction. Rafael Spregelburd, attore e drammaturgo, ha esordito giovanissimo in Argentina, ma il suo talento lo ha portato presto in Europa, dove ha presentato i suoi lavori al Royal Court Theatre di Londra, al Deutsches Schauspielhaus di Amburgo, al Theaterhaus di Stuttgart. I suoi testi sono stati tradotti e messi in scena in Francia, Germania, Slovacchia, Olanda, Italia. Fra le sue opere, un posto d’eccezione lo occupa il ciclo Heptalogya de Hieronymus Bosch, sette opere distinte, ispirate alla tavola dei sette vizi capitali del pittore fiammingo: L’Inappetenza, La Stravaganza, La Modestia, La Stupidità, Il Panico, La Cocciutaggine, La Paranoia.

Set in an undefined remote future, Paranoia develops an intricate structure of Chinese boxes, in which one story seems to contain another, and then another and so on. A group of men is responsible for a project that is essential for the future of humanity: to maintain good relations with the alien “intelligences” that threaten the Earth. Good relations and therefore the survival of the planet are guaranteed by a simple pact: the aliens need mankind because they consume with an inexhaustible greed something that the Earth produces in great quantities: fiction. Rafael Spregelburd, an actor and dramatist, made his debut in Argentina very young, but his talent soon brought him to Europe, where he presented his works at the Royal Court Theatre of London, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus of Hamburg, and the Theaterhaus of Stuttgart. His plays have been translated and produced in France, Germany, the Slovak Republic, Holland and Italy. Among his works, pride of place goes to the Heptalogya de Hieronymus Bosch cycle of seven distinct works, inspired by the table of the seven capital sins by the Flemish painter: La Inapetencia, La Extravagancia, La Modestia, La Estupidez, El Panico, La Terquedad, La Paranoia.
