“Each of us easily remember a ‘first time’ in his or her life,” writes Bart Van den Eynde. “The first time we drove, the first time someone told us a lie, the first time we were kissed. They are moments that we take with us consciously or unconsciously, and that we compare to our every-day experience. And when we do so, the present often acquires a certain desolation: nothing can compare to the intensity and luminosity of the first experience […]. Childhood is a place, it is an invented memory made of images that will never disappear, like episodes altered by time and continually rewritten… It is a survival reflex: forgetting the bad and remembering the good.” Les ballets C de la B perform Primero. Lisi Estaras and five performers bring to life the world of the “first times” to the notes of Klezmer music, so dear to Estaras’ memories and origins, composed specially by clarinettist Yom. On stage is a green lawn and old dark wooden furniture to recreate the idea of a playground, or more precisely “a living-room of memories”.
