Don Giovanni – di W. A. Mozart

The Sacchi di Sabbia company, which won the UBU Prize in 2008, is well known for its ability to blend the stylistic-formal analysis of experimental theatre with the tradition of the Commedia dell’Arte, drawing indiscriminately and with indifferently on classic theatre and on “minor” artistic and expressive forms, contaminating styles and genres. The company’s “field of play” for this new production is no less than Mozart’s Don Giovanni. At the centre of the stage is a small orchestra which, driven by an irresistible desire to achieve “beauty”, stubbornly insists on performing Mozart’s well-known opera, producing a comic concert for “grimaces and noises”, which still manages to investigate the nature of the sound ingredients making up a melody.
