Pink, Me & The Roses

With this production, the young Codice Ivan company offers audiences not only a play, an end product packaged and ready for consumption, but also the actual process of creation, allowing the problems related to artistic creation to play out in front of the amazed eyes of the audience. The mechanism of the theatrical construction is displayed and revealed: the actors speak in synch with their own voices, which were pre-recorded when the performance was conceived, to enable the audience to be a part of the creative process. In a meta-theatrical key, Codice Ivan go on stage and break through the clumsily patched fourth wall. Winner of the Premio Scenario in 2009, Pink, Me & The Roses is a reflection “on why all our attempts at dialogue seem destined to fail and why it is language that marks this failure”. But the conclusion does not want to be pessimistic; on the contrary, it is searching for a chance to be honest, to speak directly, man to man, trying to overcome the conventions of the theatre, even if this is impossible.

GMGS_10MINUTESPLEASE! – Durata 10′
